From April 21 to 24, 2026, the 36th China International Plastics and Rubber Industry Exhibition (CHINAPLAS 2026) is being held in full swing.

At this global plastics and flexible Packaging industry event, HySum presented its integrated high-barrier packaging solutions. With two innovative products successfully selected for the2026 Top Ten Technology Trends in Plastics & Rubber Report, HySum demonstrated its strong technological expertise and continuous innovation capability across the global plastics, rubber, and flexible packaging supply chain.

One Core Capability: From Fragmented Processing to Integrated Synergy

At this exhibition, HySum highlighted its integrated production platform combining film extrusion, functional coating, and vacuum metallization.

Unlike the traditional flexible packaging model, where film making, coating, and metallization are completed separately across different suppliers and production stages, HySum integrates key converting technologies within one coordinated manufacturing system, enabling full structural synergy across packaging materials.

This integrated capability delivers:

Stable High-Barrier Performance

Barrier properties are upgraded from isolated single-layer functionality to coordinated structural synergy, ensuring more stable oxygen barrier and moisture barrier performance.

End-to-End Quality Control

From base film to functional layers, the entire process is controllable within one system, significantly improving consistency, reliability, and packaging performance.

Application-Oriented Structure Design

Packaging structures can be reverse-engineered according to end-use requirements, supporting applications across pharmaceutical packaging, food packaging, cosmetic packaging, personal care packaging, and consumer goods packaging.

This integrated manufacturing model not only improves the certainty of packaging material performance, but also makes high-standard packaging technologies more accessible to a broader market, accelerating the adoption of advanced high-barrier flexible packaging solutions worldwide.

Two Innovative Products: Fewer Layers, Higher Performance

The two products selected for the industry trend report reflect a clear technology direction in the flexible packaging industry:

Functional Integration + Simplified Structure Design

1. Polyethylene-Based High-Barrier Coated Film

  • Oxygen transmission rate (OTR) below 1 cm³/(m²·day)
  • Printable and laminatable
  • Addresses the limitations of conventional co-extruded barrier films, including insufficient barrier performance, difficult recycling processes, and high equipment requirements

This innovation enables mono-material PE high-barrier packaging, supporting recyclable flexible packaging structures and sustainable packaging development.

2. Heat-Sealable High-Barrier Metallized Paper

  • Oxygen transmission rate and water vapor transmission rate both below 1
  • Integrates multiple functions including printability, grease resistance, heat sealability, and ultra-high barrier performance
  • Reduces lamination layers while significantly improving recyclability

By using a simpler packaging structure to achieve higher functional integration, the product offers a more sustainable solution for paper-based flexible packaging applications.

From “Supplying Materials” to “Delivering Reliable Protection”

Both innovations point toward the same industry trend: packaging materials no longer need to rely on thicker and more complex multilayer structures.

Through material engineering, coating technology, metallization technology, and integrated process design, packaging performance can become more efficient, more sustainable, and more precisely controlled.

This represents HySum’s transition from simply supplying packaging materials to delivering reliable product protection.

Driving the Future of Sustainable Flexible Packaging

Since 2019, HySum has continuously expanded its advanced materials business, investing heavily in fully imported high-end film production lines while accelerating innovation in recyclable packaging and degradable packaging materials.

Leveraging the synergy of core technologies such as film extrusion, coating, and metallization, HySum is actively promoting the evolution of packaging toward:

  • Aluminum-reduced structures
  • PVC-free flexible packaging
  • Mono-material recyclable packaging systems

while maintaining excellent barrier performance, seal integrity, and product protection.

These innovations align closely with the global trend toward sustainable packaging, circular economy development, and low-carbon manufacturing.

Looking ahead, HySum will continue deepening its strategic focus on high-barrier and sustainable packaging technologies, using innovation to drive material evolution and integrated manufacturing systems to make premium packaging solutions more widely accessible.

Guided by the mission of “Delivering premium packaging for premium products,” HySum remains committed to enabling advanced packaging capabilities to serve broader industries and global markets.
