How can medical device Packaging be chosen so that it is reliable? The answer comes down to three issues: sterilization, barrier performance and mass production. At Medtec China 2026, HySum presented five medical film solutions — EVOH co-extruded ostomy bag film, non-PVC urine collection bag film, medical thermoforming sheet, nylon stretch-forming film and EVA/Surlyn/EVA stretch-forming film — answering these three issues one by one. Together, the portfolio covers diverse packaging needs, from ostomy care to Class II and Class III sterilizable medical devices.

Sterilization safety, long-term barrier performance and mass-production stability — these three core issues in medical device packaging form the fundamental measure of a packaging solution's value.

From September 1 to 3, 2026, HySum exhibited at Medtec China 2026 (Shanghai New International Expo Centre) with five medical film solutions, responding to the industry's challenges through systematic technical capability.

EVOH Co-extruded Ostomy Bag Film — An ostomy bag is a core appliance in the daily care of ostomy patients, and its packaging film needs to combine softness, quietness, skin-friendliness, barrier performance and freedom from odor. The HySum EVOH co-extruded ostomy bag film uses a multilayer co-extrusion structure, with EVOH as the core barrier layer to effectively block odor and water vapor permeation, while also offering good biocompatibility, softness, quietness and a skin-friendly feel, providing safety and comfort for end users. The EVOH co-extruded ostomy bag film series comes in transparent, skin-tone, tea-colored and matte variants to suit different end-user preferences, and customization is available for customers.

Non-PVC Urine Collection Bag Film — Conventional PVC urine bag film carries risks such as plasticizer (DEHP) migration and the generation of dioxins during incineration. The medical industry is now accelerating its shift from PVC to non-PVC materials, a direction expected to become the mainstream of industry development. The HySum non-PVC urine collection bag film is based on a multilayer co-extruded polyolefin system and uses proprietary technology to achieve excellent odor barrier performance and biocompatibility, along with good softness and quietness. The solution also performs well in port-fit sealing and leak prevention. HySum supplies non-PVC urine collection bag film in two forms — bag body film (printable) and valve film — to meet customers' customization needs. With its advantages in safety, environmental performance and overall properties, the non-PVC urine collection bag film brings new momentum to the industry's sustainable development.

Medical Thermoforming Sheet — Thermoformed packaging is one of the core packaging forms for sterile medical devices, requiring a precise fit to the device's shape and the formation of a reliable sterile barrier. HySum medical thermoforming sheet is produced in a Grade D cleanroom (Class 100,000 cleanliness), with full-process control of airborne particles, settling microorganisms, temperature and humidity. The product suits the sterile packaging needs of Class II and Class III sterilizable medical devices, and withstands ethylene oxide, irradiation and other sterilization methods, ensuring sterile barrier integrity and physical integrity. HySum offers customers a range of products including APET, PETG, GAG, PP and PS, with thickness customizable on request.

Asymmetric Nylon Stretch-Forming Film — A multilayer co-extruded film with an asymmetric structure built from functional layers such as PA and PE, it achieves excellent physical properties through differentiated layer-thickness design. The asymmetric structure gives the film excellent strength and puncture resistance. Compared with biaxially oriented PA, the co-extruded PA layer that has not been biaxially oriented offers better softness and deep-draw forming performance, along with good sterilization compatibility, making it suitable for deep-draw thermoformed packaging of medical devices.

EVA/Surlyn/EVA Stretch-Forming Film — A three-layer co-extrusion structure of EVA and Surlyn resin gives the material excellent impact strength, low-temperature toughness, puncture resistance and optical properties. It can seal through contaminants, reduce leakage and raise line speed, providing a high-quality solution for medical device packaging that demands high sealing reliability and forming accuracy.

Behind this product portfolio is nearly two decades of experience in high barrier materials. HySum operates four core process platforms — film making, sheet, coating and metallization — equipped with internationally advanced blown film, cast film, metallizing and coating lines and fully automatic batching systems. Customization capability — color, thickness, barrier level — is not an add-on option, but part of standard delivery.

The exhibition has drawn to a close, but our cooperation and discussion will continue. For product literature or samples, you are welcome to contact the HySum team.
