Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
BOPP stands for Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene. It is a polymer film stretched in both machine and transverse directions, which provides excellent mechanical strength, clarity, and barrier properties.
The film thickness ranges from 15 to 50μm, with 20 to 30μm being the most common range. Customized thicknesses, such as 21μm, can also be tailored to specific requirements.
Glossy BOPP film offers high gloss and transparency with a friction coefficient of 0.2-0.4. Matte BOPP film features an anti-glare finish with a friction coefficient of 0.4-0.6, providing a premium, non-reflective appearance.
It is widely used in food packaging (meat, fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, biscuits, snacks, beverages), medical packaging (devices, pharmaceuticals), electronic component packaging, and fine chemical applications.
HGPP121 is a common grade with an OTR of 0.7 cm³/m²·day. HGPP221 is a boiling-resistant grade with a lower OTR of 0.4 cm³/m²·day (0.5 after boiling at 98°C for 30 minutes), making it suitable for high-temperature applications.
The 21μm film features a high light transmittance of 91.6% and a low haze of 1.4%. It also provides a wetting tension of 52 mN/cm and high tensile strength (151.8 MPa MD / 203.3 MPa TD).
